The heating unit or heating coils shall be installed in the air duct leading to the chamber and be arranged to enable maintenance and inspection. The facilities for heating and circulating air in the drying cabinet shall be of sufficient capacity to attain the specified drying temperature in the chamber within 30 min. of operation from the cold condition.
Where the air flowing into the drying cabinet is heated by electrical means, the location of the electrical heating unit in the air duct shall ensure uniform heating of the air. The heating unit shall be protected against overheating. The RMDs shall be prevented from coming into contact with the heating elements.
Where the air flowing into the drying cabinet is heated by coils containing hot water or steam, the location of the coils in the air duct shall ensure uniform heating of the air.
Coils shall be fitted with inlet and outlet headers, and be graded uniformly downward for drainage purposes. Steam coils shall be fitted with a steam trap to drain the condensate from the outlet headers. The circulating fan shall be balanced and designed to be removable to allow cleaning and maintenance of the impeller and the interior of the fan casing. The fan shall have sufficient capacity to circulate enough air through the drying cabinet to achieve drying, with adequate pressure to discharge a proportion of this air to atmosphere through an exhaust vent [see Item (i), Appendix A]. Fans shall be made of corrosion resistant materials.
A control shall be provided to interrupt the electrical supply to the fan and heater elements whenever any door is opened during operation, and to reconnect supply whenever all doors are closed during operation.
To reduce the amount of moisture in the air circulating through the drying cabinet, a proportion of this air shall be bled off by means of an adjustable damper suitable for the regulation of the airflow. The bleed-off discharge shall pass through an exhaust vent terminating at the top of the drying cabinet. The vent shall be connected to an exhaust system or to atmosphere. Fresh air replacing the discharged air shall be admitted to the drying cabinet through a filter.AS 5330 pdf free download.
