Alternative capacities, in kilograms, may be designated for other load-centre distances, attachments, lift heights and truck attitudes or positions, other than those used to establish the actual capacity.Mast forward tilt capacity shall be shown on all trucks equipped with a tilting mast in addition to the vertical capacity.
NOTE: See ISO 229 15-8 for stability test requirements.
Where an alternative capacity is designated, it shall be based on stability tests using the load-centre distance, lift height and truck attitude or position which have been designated. If an alternative capacity is designated for a lift height which is less than the maximum lift height, the variation between actual capacity and the designated alternative capacity shall be considered as being linear unless otherwise specified, e.g. designation of intermediate values.Where more than one rating (vertical) is required to be on a truck, as a minimum, a means shall be used to indicate to the operator the lift height, for example a digital display or marking on the mast.
The tyre tread pattern shall give the truck a handling characteristic which is appropriate to the intended usage. The use of specifically designed smooth or slick tread pattern tyres is acceptable for forklifts. Smooth or slick tread pattern tyres are not recommended where a forklift is registered for use on public roads.
All tyres on any axle shall be of the same type and also shall have the same tread pattern, size and rating. Where it is necessary for tyres on the front and rear axles to be of the same size and tread pattern, they shall have the same rating.
All tyres shall have correct outside diameters, to avoid having one tyre larger in diameter than the other, on the same axle. Cushion tyres on each axle shall retain correct bonding to the metal bands or rims, and shall be of similar condition.AS 2359.1 pdf free download.
