AS 5146.2:2018 pdf free.Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete
Any bond between the steel reinforcement and adjacent AAC shall be ignored when determining the structural capacities of Reinforced AAC members. All requisite anchorage shall be provided by the incorporation of transverse reinforcement welded to the
longitudinal reinforcement.
For Reinforced AAC members, the calculations for design strength of cross-sections shall be based on equilibrium and strain compatibility and shall be consistent with the following:
(a) Plane sections normal to the axis shall be assumed to remain plane.
(b) The tensile strength (including flexural strength) of the AAC shall be taken as zero.
(c) For members subject to longitudinal compression across the whole of the section, the compressive strain of the AAC shall not exceed -0.002.
(d) For members not subject to longitudinal compression across the whole of the section, the compressive strain of the AAC shall not exceed -0.003. At a position one-third of the depth of the section from the most compressed face, the compressive strain of the
AAC shall not exceed -0.002.
(e) Members required to be ductile shall be proportioned such that a strain of 0.001 occurs in the tensile reinforcement before the limits on compressive strain are reached.
(f) Longitudinal reinforcement in the compression zone shall not be considered as contributing to axial compressive capacity unless restrained to the main tensile reinforcement by fitments or the like.
(g) Longitudinal compressive stress that does not exceed 0.08fck can be neglected in members designed principally to resist bending.
A Reinforced AAC member shall include sufficient tensile reinforcement to ensure that there is no brittle failure at the initiation of the first crack.
The characteristic bending capacity of the cracked cross-section of the reinforced member shall be greater than the characteristic cracking bending capacity of the uncracked section, determined using the characteristic tensile strength of AAC determined in accordance with Clause 2.4.AS 5146.2 pdf free download.
