If a deflection test is not carried out, an initial pressure equivalent to 50% of either the;positive or negative SLS test pressure shall be applied to the test specimen and held for one minute. This shall be taken as a settling-in take-up period.
If the test specimen requires modification to gaskets, weatherseals, joint seals or drainage details to enable it to pass either the air infiltration test or the water penetration resistance test, then both tests shall be repeated in full.
Before retesting, the test specimen shall be checked to ensure it is operative (Clause 2.2) and the Serviceability (SLS) test pressures, both positive and negative shall be applied for one minute each to the test sample. Any modification to the test specimen shall be noted on the respective drawing and the amendment coded thereon.
The test procedure and loading sequence shall be as follows:
(a) An initial pressure equivalent to 50% of the test pressure shall be applied to the test specimen and held for one minute. This shall be taken as a settling- in take-up period.
(b) The pre-load pressure shall be removed and the zero position of the displacement measuring devices recorded.
(c) Differential pressures in the same direction shall then be applied across the test specimen in not less than four approximately equal increments until the test pressure is reached. The pressure shall be held for at least one minute at each pressure increment, and the readings of the displacement measuring devices recorded before the pressure is increased.
(d) The differential pressure shall be removed and after two minutes the zero displacement readings shall be taken.
(e) The direction of the pressure device, or test specimen shall be reversed and Steps (a) to (d) shall be repeated using the opposite test loading.AS 4420.1 pdf free download.
